The facts about roof insulation :
Roof insulation is one of the most important types of insulation in your home. It is supposed to do a number of things such as :
- Moisture barrier
- Reflect radiant heat
- Prevent heat escape
- Prevent condensation
Most roofing insulation or roof blankets as they are known, are once again made from bulk insulation laminated with a layer of aluminium foil. These common types of roofing blankets barely do any of the things they are supposed to.
- They don’t work as a moisture barrier
- They cant reflect radiant heat,
- They prevent moisture from escaping the roof cavity
- They deteriorate very quickly
I have lost count of how many leaking roofs I have seen where it is impossible to find the leaks because of the way that this stuff is laid.
Bulk roof insulation cant reflect radiant heat, because it is so thick that it closes the 25mm compulsory air gap needed for the foil to reflect .
The bulk insulation soaks up a lot of moisture out of the air so the space becomes damp and toxic.
If you read my last post you will know why it deteriorates quickly.
If you are in the market for new roofing insulation, it would be an extremely wise move to check out foil bubble insulation.
All of the big legitimate companies are spending a lot of money educating people about these types of insulation. I truly believe in years to come that these bulk insulations could be a thing of the past.
hope this helped
